TITLE: The Man From Oakdale
AUTHORS: Henry Coleman with Alina Adams
GRADE: C+
A bright red sticker on the front advertises “As Seen on As The World Turns” – thus, I hardly expected grade A fiction to leap off of the pages. And I was correct in my assumption. Once you acknowledge and embrace the fact that this is not going to be award winning writing, it is easy to get wrapped up in this missing persons mystery. Henry Coleman is hired to find a lovely old woman’s grandson – but nearly ends up as a missing person himself. In this around-the-world caper, the authors manage to integrate multiple plots and a nice (if not highly predictable) little love story. Given that warm weather and beach season is just around the corner, I would recommend “The Man From Oakdale” as a delightfully lightweight beach read.
