Chocolate Please: My Adventures in Food, Fat and Freaks

BOOK: Chocolate Please: My Adventures In Food, Fat and Freaks

AUTHOR: Lisa Lampanelli

GRADE: C+

Lisa Lampanelli (the self-titled, Lovable Queen of Mean) has written a memoir that is about 90% insult comedy and 10% self reflection. Her unabashedly racist jokes and rantings are at times hilarious and at other times offending - or just plain weird. Her obsession with black men is humorous for about the first 50 pages and her description of her eating disorder is heartfelt but brushed over a bit by the comedy. Still, the woman grows on you. By the end of the book, I was not altogether disappointed at having read it, but was by no means blown away.

Overall; Lampanelli's memoir is an easy, fast and moderately humorous read for those not easily offended and looking to take their mind off their lives with a little insanity.
