BOOK: Sex, Drugs, And Cocoa Puffs

Sex, Drugs, And Cocoa Puffs is Klosterman's take on everything pop culture; with absolutely nothing off limit. Despite finding his musings vaguely interesting and moderately amusing at times; my tolerance for his writing style and self-deprecating cockiness dwindled as the pages wore on. His insights and commentary made a number of interesting points and his arguments were relatively well thought out and researched, but the tone of writing lost me towards the middle. While I wouldn't label the problem as a lack of writing talent - because he demonstrates considerable talent, I have to admit to it not being my particular cup of tea and I believe that it prevented me from fully enjoying or appreciating his theories.
Klosterman does have a loyal following to whom his style resonates and I would suggest checking it out if you have read and enjoyed any of his past work. Other than that, I can't give Sex, Drugs, And Cocoa Puffs my full support.
